چکیده

The comprehension of structural behaviors in double perovskites is crucial for their functional optimization, especially when applying external regulations. Here, to inquire about potential structures with better magnetic performance, high-pressure phase transformation perovskite Ba2SmBiO6 was first investigated up 50 GPa via situ x-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. A pressure-induced transition from cubic Fm-3m orthorhombic Pnma discovered at 4.8 GPa, accompanied by the splitting peaks. Above 19.8 new becomes distorted as shown peak recombination broadening. variation spectra also confirms formation distortion during compression, through evolution Bi–O stretching, bending, octahedral rotation, Ba-sites translation modes. analysis tilt angles factor evinced that BiO6 tilting key occurrence. Based on Mulliken populations analyses, bonds undergo a covalent-ionic-antibonding across under compression. Our exploration mechanism guides modulation electronic properties extreme conditions.

Band Gap Tuning via Lattice Contraction and Octahedral Tilting in Perovskite Materials for Photovoltaics.

Tin and lead iodide perovskite semiconductors of the composition AMX3, where M is a metal and X is a halide, are leading candidates for high efficiency low cost tandem photovoltaics, in part because they have band gaps that can be tuned over a wide range by compositional substitution. We experimentally identify two competing mechanisms through which the A-site cation influences the band gap of ...

Pressure induced octahedral tilting distortion in Ba2YTaO6.

Herein we communicate the first example of a pressure induced octahedral tilting distortion in a double perovskite phase, which was observed during the structural characterization of Ba2YTaO6 using high-pressure synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction.

Grafted Rods: A Tilting Phase Transition

A tilting phase transition is predicted for systems comprising rod like molecules which are irreversibly grafted to a flat surface, so that the non interacting rods are perpendicularly oriented. The transition is controlled by the grafting density ρ. It occurs as ρ increases as a result of the interplay between two energies. Tilt is favoured by the van-der-Waals attraction between the rods. It ...

Post-perovskite phase transition in MgSiO3.

In situ x-ray diffraction measurements of MgSiO3 were performed at high pressure and temperature similar to the conditions at Earth's core-mantle boundary. Results demonstrate that MgSiO3 perovskite transforms to a new high-pressure form with stacked SiO6-octahedral sheet structure above 125 gigapascals and 2500 kelvin (2700-kilometer depth near the base of the mantle) with an increase in densi...

Structural phase transition in epitaxial perovskite films

Three different film systems have been systematically investigated to understand the effects of strain and substrate constraint on the phase transitions of perovskite films. In SrTiO3 films, the phase transition temperature Tc was determined by monitoring the superlattice peaks associated with rotations of TiO6 octahedra. It is found that Tc depends on both SrTiO3 film thickness and SrRuO3 buff...
